I en tid där hiphop nästintill fått fler subgenres än artister är Dave East en frisk fläkt - som blåser in vinyldamm och 90-talsdoftande rap över en hel genre. Det är inte heller konstigt att David Brewster Jr. - aka. Dave East - hyllas för sin råa rap när han influerats av barndomsidolerna Nas, The Lox, Cam'Ron, Biggie, Raekwon och många fler.

I höstas kom albumet "Beloved" som spelades in tillsammans med Styles P från The Lox. HiphopDX beskrev skivan så här: "Dave East and Styles P make this joint album feel authentic. Proving that narrative can sometimes trump atmosphere, this project defies mainstream trends while offering a new spin on classic approaches."
